Your opportunity :

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Advancement Innis College, the Development Officer (DO) is involved in the development and delivery of various advancement activities at Innis College. Working closely with the Associate Director, the incumbent is responsible for theannual and leadership-annual fund gift campaigns, from identification through to solicitation and stewardship. This position will be a strategic point of contact for a portfolio of LAG prospects, as well as planned gift prospects, where appropriate. Sustaining and deepening prospective and current donors’ interest and commitment to the College, the DO will also develop and implement donor stewardship functions, drafting correspondence, communications materials and other advancement materials for LAG / Annual and planned gift work; leading advancement related senior member / alumni activities; and providing high-level administrative support in the form of record keeping and data collection for Innis Advancement. The Development Officer collaborates with various Innis College departments and stakeholders and the Division of University Advancement (DUA), as required.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Evaluating a prospective donor’s giving capacity and readiness to give
  • Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and / or activities
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
  • Drafting written materials for fundraising activities
  • Identifying prospective donors and aligning them to key priorities
  • Analyzing administrative processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement

Essential Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and recent and related experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an advancement professional within leadership, annual, major, and / or planned giving fundraising environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building andstrengthening relationships with key donor contacts.
  • Demonstrated experience creating, coordinating and implementing tailored advancement programs.
  • Experience conducting development-related research to identify donor prospects and creating tailored fundraising packages.
  • Experience developing components of short-and long-term donor stewardship strategies.
  • Experience developing events and programming to engage donors, prospects, and alumni.
  • Experience with fundraising database ARBOR or related databases; experience maintaining databases, and preparing reports from multiple data sources.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing content on social and multi-media tools and channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in MS Office suite, database software, and web content management systems.
  • Excellent and proven communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to draft, proofread and edit a range of written material.
  • Demonstrated initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity.
  • Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to successfully interact with donors, alumni, senior volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Assets (Nonessential) :

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Knowledge of the University of Toronto’s rules,guidelines and procedures.
