Job descriptionAdheres to all health and safety policies and procedures in place; complies with all instructions from the employer concerning health and safety as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workers Compensation Ensures all procedures, rules and guidelines for the safety and security of clients and staff are enforced and respected Operate industrial cleaning equipment and tools Mop and sweep (repetitive motions) Bend and twist Occasionally carry out stepladder work Lift more than 20 pounds with assistance High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years recent housekeeping / cleaning experience preferably with an organization that works with the marginalized population Current WHMIS training or be willing to take the training upon hire Non-skid CSA approved safety shoes required To promote the mission, policies and objectives of the Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ches Penney Centre of Hope To carry out tasks in a way that meets client needs and allows us to be a transforming influence in our community To uphold and promote our core values, Hope, Service, Dignity & Stewardship and taking time to celebrate client successes To maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the clientele and coworkers of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ches Penney Centre of Hope At all times participate as an active and responsible team member in all work groups and treat fellow employees and officers in a respectful manner To treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution At all times represent the organization in a professional manner and act in the best interest of the employer Participate in ongoing professional development and training as offered Be able to supply a current clear Criminal Police / Vulnerable Sector Check Be willing to obtain clearance through the Salvation Army Internal Abuse Registry and be willing to sign the Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt & Acknowledgement Form
Description
To provide a clean and safe environment at The Salvation Army Ches Penney Centre of Hope.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Accountabilities :
- Cleans, sanitizes, sweeps, dusts, mops, washes, vacuum floors
- Cleans and stocks washroom facilities
- Cleans and sanitizes offices, classrooms, and main areas of the building
- Empties garbage
- Spot cleans carpets and performs general carpet cleaning, as required
- Organizes and maintains janitorial supplies in janitorial room(s) and on janitorial carts
- Follows established procedures and documentation for inventory tracking
- Informs Director of Operations of general repairs and maintenance items required
- Works independently or cooperatively with team members to complete tasks on schedule and according to quality standards
- Performs laundry of mop, cleaning cloths, aprons
- Complies with all prescribed sanitation and building disinfecting protocols
- Required to show courtesy to clients and all those on the property of The Salvation Army Ches Penney Centre of Hope
- Performs other related duties as assigned
