JombonePenticton, British ColumbiaThe Role : As an Occupational Therapist in the Med / Surg / Rehab acute care units, you will assess and implement therapeutic interventions to support patients' recovery and improve their functional independence during their hospital stay. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to address patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, ensuring a smooth transition from acute care to rehabilitation or discharge.
Responsibilities :
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' functional abilities, focusing on physical, cognitive, and psychosocial aspects.
Develop and execute individualized treatment plans to support recovery and optimize independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
Provide education and training to patients and their families on adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and discharge planning strategies.
Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and case managers, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans to align with evolving rehabilitation goals and medical conditions.
Document assessments, care plans, and progress notes in compliance with professional and organizational standards.
Requirements :
Licensed Occupational Therapist with current registration in your province or territory.
Experience in acute care, particularly in medical, surgical, or rehabilitation settings, is preferred.
Strong understanding of rehabilitative care, assistive devices, and acute-to-rehabilitation transitions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing a diverse caseload.
