Position Description
Join our team and be part of our bold new strategy for Precision Child Health to usher in a new generation of discovery, prevention, and treatment for children worldwide.
Effective January 1, 2025, the Division of Neonatology is seeking a full-time faculty position as Division Head, Neonatology at the Hospital for Sick Children, 555 University Ave., Toronto, ON, which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children affiliated with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
This role provides unique opportunities for creative and professional activities and innovative translational and basic research. The successful candidate will act as a key steward and mentor for our diverse faculty and trainees, collaborate with our allied health and nursing partners, and partner with our scientists in our world-class Research Institute. By championing clinical services, education, and research discoveries, you will advance the disciplines of the Neonatology Program, ensuring the alignment of academic activities with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
The Division is home to innovative scientists leading world-class research to improve evidence-based neonatology and health outcomes for infants in collaboration with our Research Institute in over 160 active research studies.
The successful candidate will also serve as a strategic advisor and steward of the philanthropic funds to influence the strategic vision for the division. The Division offers a comprehensive and accredited subspecialty residency program, enabling trainees to gain in-depth experience offered in our six fellowship programs including Neonatal Neurology and Neonatal / Paediatric Transport.
The Neonatal Program focuses on the transport, care, and follow-up of the most medically and surgically complex patients in the province of Ontario. Programs and services include the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Clinical, and the Acute Care Transport Services.
The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications : leadership and mentoring experience with a track record of academic and research excellence in the field of neonatology and demonstrate vision for child and youth health. The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($350,000-$450,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a leadership stipend and a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent, and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position will remain open until filled.
