Compensation : Alignment ofHEABC – HSP Grid 8 ($36.59-$45.66 per hour)

YOUR ROLE
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Counselling& Bereavement Services the music therapist provides children and theirfamilies with music therapy consultations and services. They will becomfortable offering a variety of music therapy sessions tailored to the needsof each child and their family in the moment. Some sessions may be morereceptive in nature, supporting with relaxation style music to aid a child withsleep or pain management, while others might require more active participationsuch as playing instruments, singing, moving to music, writing / composing songsetc.
To be effective in this role the music therapist needs to multitask byplaying music, interacting with patients and family members of varying ages,making assessments, and evaluating interventions. They will be meticulous andcompassionate and have strong problem-solving skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in MusicTherapy. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children andyouth. Accredited with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). AMaster’s in Music Therapy or Counselling is an asset.
