Closing Date : March 25, 2025 at 4 : 00 PMSTUDENT HEALTH CENTREThe Student Health Centre (SHC) falls within the Health and Wellness Division of Student Affairs and Services and offers a full range of family-practice-style medical services to students at UNB and St. Thomas University. The Heath Centre consists of physicians, a nurse practitioner, a registered dietitian, registered nurses, medical administrative assistants and Clinic Director. The Student Health Centre provides appointments year-round, team consultations, and provides support to the university and its members through preventative health education, community vaccination clinics (often in association with the Nursing Faculty), programming in alignment with the Department of Health and Public Health as directives are received, and a variety of other health & wellness endeavours.WHAT WE OFFERFull-time | Continuing | Fredericton| On-CampusStandard Work Hours : Mon - Fri | 8 : 15 am - 4 : 30 pm | 37.5 hours per weekAdditional Working Conditions : Fast paced environment dealing with a range of urgent situations involving patients.Salary Range : per NBMS ratesYOUR FOCUSReporting to Director of Student Health and Clinical Chief, the Physician provides primary health care for students of both UNB and St. Thomas University. This includes a wide variety of physical, emotional and situational problems which present either urgently or electively.Assess each individual patient as they present with either isolated medical, emotional or situational problems or long-term medical illnesses or disabilities. The scope and variety of patients and their health concerns are extensive and may include respiratory tract infections; chronic illnesses such as diabetes and asthma; chronic and acute psychiatric illnesses; injuries and sport related illnesses; sexuality, sexually transmitted infections and birth control counselling; school related stress disorders and anxiety; mental healthRefer to other health related professionals including physiotherapists, medical specialist and dietitians either urgently or electively as determined by the physician.Counsel on health education and patient choices for topics such as smoking cessation, nutrition, safe sex practices and healthy lifestyle habits.Collaborate or provide consultation to the Nurse Practitioner when the diagnosis and / or treatment plan is unclear or is not within the NP scope of practice.Consult or collaborate regarding the outreach immunization program and allergy injections provided by a nurse and nurse practitioner.WHAT YOU BRINGMembership or eligibility for membership in New Brunswick Medical Society, College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick and Department of Family Practice.General Practitioner licensed to practise medicine in New Brunswick.Additional StrengthsAn interest in the traditional university-aged student is a must.An interest in the fields of sexual and mental health.Experience with young adults would be an asset.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics.About University of New BrunswickThe University of New Brunswick employs more than 3,200 full- and part-time staff, including faculty, support staff and students.
