If so, we encourage you to apply by submitting your resume and cover letter to [email protected] OverviewReporting to the Associate Director of Medical Affairs, Canada, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a therapeutic and disease expert, developing and maintaining professional relationships with healthcare practitioners to achieve positive health outcomes for patients. The MSL provides accurate, balanced, and credible information about ALK products and clinical science. In addition to interactions with healthcare providers, the MSL collaborates closely with ALK's Sales, Marketing, and Medical Affairs teams to ensure high-level scientific communication and leadership both internally and externally.This is a field-based position requiring at least 60% travel, including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel for conferences and meetings. ResponsibilitiesScientific Collaboration : Develop and maintain scientific exchanges with external physicians, nurses, scientific experts, hospital teams, educators, and investigators within the designated geography.Medical Representation : Act as the primary ALK medical representative for key stakeholders, providing advanced disease state and product information, aligning with ALK’s mission.Clinical Trial Support : Assist in the execution of clinical trials at study sites as directed by internal clinical development medical directors.Insight Collection : Gather and report clinical insights and address unanswered questions from external contacts to appropriate internal channels.Scientific Communication : Maintain and communicate current scientific knowledge in allergy and related areas to engage in in-depth scientific discussions.Engage in continuous learning within the therapeutic area by attending scientific meetings, conducting literature searches, and sharing relevant information with the team.Establish oneself as a reliable resource of accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge for healthcare providers.Respond promptly to inquiries with available information, including reprints, posters, medical letters, literature citations, and other related materials.Project Leadership : Lead internal medical affairs projects with national or global scope, ensuring alignment on goals, resource coordination, timeline and budget management, vendor oversight, and process improvement recommendations.Stakeholder Interaction : Engage with teaching / university centers program director, medical directors, and payer thought leaders to provide requested education on disease state, epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment. Collaborate with commercial team members to objectively and accurately communicate scientific information and clinical trial results.Advocacy Partnership : Work with advocacy groups to identify educational opportunities that advance disease understanding.Internal Training : Provide ongoing disease and product training to internal and field personnel.Educational Grants and Studies : Facilitate access to the educational grant request process and align incoming investigator-sponsored studies with internal scientific interests.Medical Information Support : Ensure prompt intake and responses for medical information and support requests.Administrative Management : Utilize approved resources to fulfill administrative, procedural, and legal requirements to address healthcare provider needs.Maintain proficiency in computer skills and database entry, comply with documentation standards and procedures, and share best practices.QualificationsEducation Requirements : PharmD, MD, PhD, NP, or PASkills and Competencies : Field-based clinical or research experience related to respiratory diseases or allergies.A minimum of 5 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 2 years of experience demonstrating therapeutic competence in the relevant disease area.Thorough understanding of Health Canada, Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC), Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and other ethical guidelines pertinent to the pharmaceutical industry.Proven track record of working independently, managing priorities, and handling multiple projects simultaneously.Strong organizational skills, adaptability to changing environments, and effective teamwork and interpersonal abilities.Advanced presentation and computer skills, with expertise in literature identification and evaluation.Experience in professional networking leading to positive, mutually beneficial outcomes.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Additional Preferred Attributes : Highly motivated with the ability to comprehend and clearly communicate complex scientific content.Why Join Us?At ALK Pharmaceuticals Inc., you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives by joining a team that values creativity, collaboration, and hands-on problem-solving in pursuit of excellence in allergy immunotherapy.Principals Only
