Medical Secretary Position
We are looking for an organized, cheerful, respectful, Medical Secretary for our solo specialist office to be the point person for the day to day operations. This job is for someone who enjoys working independently in a fast paced, ever changing work environment. The physician is kind and respectful but expects accuracy, respect, organization.
Responsibilities
Managing all forms of communication types ie. phones, faxes, electronic patient messaging, emails.
Efficient running of a solo specialist’s office. Some of these responsibilities include scheduling appointments, running an office clinic, booking procedures through the hospital booking system, organizing paper charts as needed, light housekeeping duties. Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures as written, including updating these as requested. Transcribing staff meeting minutes and circulating the agenda and minutes for these meetings. Proofreading clinical letters and generating them within the EMR and sending them out to the appropriate recipients.
Requirements and skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Professional and polite telephone manner.
- Ability to listen, learn, take, and comprehend direction.
- It is important that the candidate be respectful of patients and other office staff and colleagues.
- Able to work independently and as a team member.
- High degree of multi-tasking and time management capability. Excellent work ethic and reliable.
Certificate of diploma in Medical Office Administration, or Medical Secretary from a Canadian Institution is mandatory . Please do not apply if you do not hold these educational requirements.
Experience working in a medical office minimum 2 years.
Training and experience working with Accuro. Proficient with MS office – Word and Outlook preferred.
Hours : Monday –Thursday 8 : 30-4 : 30pm- in person – work from home with internet access maybe available depending on the office schedule.
Salary : Wage dependent on experience of candidate. Employer supports “Living Wage” initiative.
Benefits : on site parking
This position is available immediately and will include a minimum of 2 weeks of paid training on site. The office will be closed Dec 23-Jan 2 / 25.
