Job description
Staffinity is currently seeking Heavy Equipment Mechanics for a Canadian client located in the region of Hearst, Ontario. There are 2 positions available, in-shop and mobile. The mobile position will have 6 months of in shop training and will then involve some overnight travel. These are permanent positions with an hourly rate, benefits, RRSP, vacation and a company vehicle. The hourly rate range is $42.50-47.50. A relocation package will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
  • Attend to service calls and travel to different locations within Northern Ontario to inspect truck or do repairs.
  • Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting to identify and resolve complex mechanical problems efficiently.
  • Test, diagnose, and repair equipment including diesel/propane- powered lift trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Overhaul, repair, and adjust engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, brakes, axles, and other assemblies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of heavy machinery.
  • Replace or repair worn, defective parts, components, or systems.
  • Operate mechanical equipment and air hand tools (e.g., drills, grinders, welding torches).
  • Perform annual safety inspections in accordance with the regulations set by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) to ensure vehicles comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other team members to coordinate repair schedules efficiently and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct general building maintenance, including minor repairs, equipment maintenance, and installations.
  • Maintenance Operations Administrative and Support Task
  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
  • Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and required documentation within set timelines.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, and restock as needed.
  • Support the training and mentorship of junior mechanics and apprentices.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive hands-on heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience.
  • 3rd year apprentices will be considered
  • French and/or English, written and spoken. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • User experience with maintenance software.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment, required to complete various tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with maintenance welding is an asset.
  • Ability to safely operate required equipment and tools with dexterity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
