Procurement Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead and manage all purchasing and strategic sourcing activities in support of a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced at the highest quality, best value, and delivered on time to support production and business objectives.

The successful candidate will build strong supplier relationships, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Lead all purchasing and sourcing activities, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, vendor management, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the timely procurement of materials, components, and services to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier performance improvement initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, tariffs, and supply chain risks, implementing proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, Sales, Quality, and Finance teams to support operational requirements and business growth.
  • Establish and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Ensure ethical purchasing practices and adherence to company policies and safety standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the integrity of procurement data within ERP/MRP systems, including supplier information, pricing, lead times, and purchasing controls.
  • Ensure procurement documentation is accurate, properly authorized, and supports timely invoicing and payment processing.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on sourcing-related Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), including new suppliers and obsolete materials.
  • Exercise strong financial judgment while adhering to approval authorities and procurement governance.

Working Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Standard day shift schedule.
  • Occasional lifting may be required.
  • Must wear required PPE while on the manufacturing floor.

  • Valid passport with the ability and willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive procurement or purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and vendor relationship management.
  • Experience sourcing fabricated components, engineered products, raw materials, or industrial equipment is considered a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management and production-driven purchasing environments.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Canadian procurement practices and regulations.
  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally to align procurement with manufacturing and business objectives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Benefits

Salary - $85K - $100K Base CAD Annually
