A reputable BC-based civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Civil Design Technologist to join their growing team in Surrey . This mid-sized firm is known for its focus on people, service, and environmental stewardship, providing consulting services to both public and private sector clients across Western Canada. The role offers ample opportunities for career growth and development, with a particular emphasis on field reviews and construction administration.
Job Description :
As a Civil Design Technologist, you will play an integral role in municipal and land development projects across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. You will focus primarily on field reviews and construction administration, but will also assist in design, drafting, and project engineering tasks. This position offers the chance to grow your career while collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals.
Responsibilities :
Conduct construction field reviews to ensure design implementation and specification conformance
Prepare detailed field review reports
Perform field investigations and reconnaissance
Monitor environmental controls, including erosion and sediment control
Maintain and calibrate required field equipment
Research and analyze existing infrastructure record information
Prepare base plans and civil engineering design drawings using ACAD Civil 3D
Assist in civil design, analysis, and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
Research and implement specifications and standards
Assist with project management tasks
Communicate and coordinate with clients, municipalities, contractors, and stakeholders
Coordinate with third-party utilities (e.g., BC Hydro, Telus, FortisBC)
Collaborate with project team professionals such as architects, electrical engineers, geotechnical engineers, traffic engineers, and environmental consultants
Skills & Qualifications :
2-5 years of experience as a Civil Engineering Technologist with a focus on land development and municipal engineering
Experience with field reviews and ensuring adherence to design specifications
Familiarity with Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD)
Proficiency with ACAD Civil 3D for drafting engineering drawings
Survey experience is an asset
Strong local market experience
Knowledge in sewer, watermain, roads, grading design, and stormwater management
Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines effectively
Detail-oriented
Possession of a valid BC Driver's License
Own transportation is an asset
