Position Summary
CSN Collision is looking for an Auto Body Technician to join our team. Our Auto Body Technician must be able to take a vehicle in a damaged state and repair or restore damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The incumbent is detail-oriented and can multitask to accommodate shifting priorities.
Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician
- Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
- Thoroughly examine collision damage, review exterior body parts, check power accessories (doors, locks, windows, mirrors) are operational, and ensure dash panel has no warning lights. Identify any prior damages overlooked on QA checklist or supplemental damage sheet
- Perform structural and complete body repairs : repair / replace front end components, body components, doors, frame and underbody components; assess, repair or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components, and vehicle accessories
- Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment; hammer out dents, buckles and other defects
- Welding on vehicles with MIG welders and compression spot welders
- Fully dismantle damaged areas, including blend panel parts, to identify hidden damages early in the repair cycle; remove damaged fenders, panels and grills; repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroof
- Ability to file, grind and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools
- Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting; apply primers and repaint surfaces
- Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
- Restore vehicle to factory specification (OEM specifications)
- Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive for proper handling
- Read and understand repair estimates
- Read and comprehend automotive repair procedures
- Able to work with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts
- Experience using frame and measuring equipment
- Experience with disassembly and reassembly of vehicles
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
