Job Title: Apprentice Electrician
Job Description
This role offers hands-on experience supporting electrical upgrades in water and wastewater treatment facilities in a light‑industrial setting near south Calgary. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople to install and upgrade electrical systems, including conduit, cable tray, wiring, and minor instrumentation, while gaining valuable industrial or commercial experience toward your apprenticeship.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical upgrades in water and wastewater treatment facilities in a light‑industrial environment.
- Bend and install conduit in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Install and secure cable tray systems to support electrical wiring and equipment.
- Pull, route, and terminate electrical wire as directed by journeypersons.
- Assist with minor electrical instrumentation and controls installation under supervision.
- Apply knowledge from industrial or commercial experience to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Use aerial work platforms (AWP) and fall protection equipment when required, following all safety procedures.
- Follow site safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to plan daily tasks and ensure work is completed within project timelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored and handled properly.
- Be open to learning and developing skills that can lead to future service work responsibilities and wage progression.
Essential Skills
- Registered 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year apprentice electrician status.
- Industrial or commercial electrical work experience in a field setting.
- Hands-on experience installing and bending conduit.
- Experience installing cable tray systems.
- Experience pulling and routing electrical wire.
- Ability to perform minor electrical instrumentation installation under supervision.
- Familiarity with working in light‑industrial environments such as wastewater, water treatment, or similar facilities.
- Ability to work safely at heights using fall protection and aerial work platforms (AWP), where required.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and willingness to follow all site safety procedures.
- Ability to work 10‑hour shifts, four days per week, and perform overtime when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with instrumentation and controls work is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in water treatment or wastewater facilities is an advantage.
- Experience working in oil field or similar industrial environments is beneficial.
- Training or certification in aerial work platforms (AWP) is an asset.
- Training or certification in fall protection is an asset.
- Interest in developing skills for future service work, with potential for increased responsibilities and wages over time.

Work Environment
The position is based in light‑industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities located in the Alderside area, south of Calgary past Okotoks. You will work Monday to Thursday, four days per week, on 10‑hour shifts, with overtime paid after 40 hours per week. The work involves industrial‑style tasks such as installing conduit, cable tray, and instrumentation in active treatment facilities, often requiring the use of aerial work platforms and fall protection equipment. The setting is hands‑on and field‑based, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and adherence to industrial work practices and procedures. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required to meet industrial site safety standards.
