ROLE : Activity Leader

PROGRAM : ILSC Vancouver Junior Winter Camp

REPORTS TO : National Director, Juniors & Corporate

CONTRACT DURATION : December th, to February th,

DURATION OF JUNIOR CAMP PROGRAM : weeks

Activity leaders bring life into the activities program of an ILSC Winter Junior Camp. They provide an experience which is fun, engaging and culturally enriching for students. They supervise the students outside the classroom, overseeing their welfare, safety, and discipline at all times.

Activity Leaders work on a full-time basis, hours per week during the Winter Camp period ( weeks). Activity Leaders must commute to and from the program location and are paid an hourly rate.

Work Schedule and Timeline

The Activity Leader role is a full-time, fixed-term position. Due to the nature of the work, your hours may vary and may be irregular.

The schedule timeline and hourly requirements are as follows :

  • Full time hours on-site at ILSC Vancouver will begin on December th, until February , .
  • Pre-program staff training will take place from December nd to December th, at the ILSC Vancouver campus. This will be part-time, hours per week.
  • Your weekly work schedule will consist of greeting students upon their arrival at the airport and connect them with the driver assigned to bring them to their homestay (typically on Sundays and scheduled by the National Director, Juniors & Corporate with the team on a rotational basis)
  • Supervising students on their weekday off-site morning activities on Monday-Friday from : AM- : PM
  • Supervising students on their full-day weekend activity on Saturdays from : AM- : PM (may vary depending on activity)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The job duties of this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Greet students at airport upon their arrival and connect them with the driver assigned to bring them to their homestay
  • Assist the National Director, Juniors & Corporate with the Student Orientation on the morning of the first day of the program each week (typically Mondays) at the ILSC Vancouver campus, by leading initial ‘getting to know you’ activities, as well as assisting students with public transit cards and SIM cards, and any other orientation tasks.
  • Attend daily staff meetings to review the day’s activities and to plan for the following day
  • Supervise students during assigned activities and groups during excursions
  • Ensure the health and safety, welfare, and discipline of students, by being attentive to incidents of discrimination, bullying, or conflict between students and alerting the National Director of Juniors of any issues
  • Complete student attendance reports as required and advise the Junior Camp management team of any absences, lateness, or behavioural issues
  • Assist the National Director of Juniors, and on occasion, agents, and accreditation inspectors, in the observation and evaluation of activities
  • All other reasonable requests
  • Skills and Attributes

    Essential

  • Experience working with teenagers in a camp or extra-curricular activity environment
  • Background in winter sports, and social media
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and motivational skills
  • Desirable

  • CPR / First Aid / Lifeguard certification
  • English (speaking Spanish or Portuguese is an asset)
  • Additional Requirements of the Job :
