Job descriptionPrevious experience in a professional retail environment is highly desirable Strong communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge and / or strong interest in Canadian and Indigenous artisanal products Ability to serve customers in both English and French is highly desirable Availability to work a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week Physical stamina to work on your feet for long shifts, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Post-secondary education (or partial) is preferred. Students are welcome.

We feature unique Canadian and indigenous art, Inuit carvings, contemporary jewellery, Canadian apparel (leggings, hoodies, T-shirts, socks etc.), home accent décor and tasty artisan foods. With 2 stores in Ottawa and a strong online presence, we serve Canadians and international visitors alike and will ship purchases to anywhere in the world.
Our passion for Canada, and all that it represents, runs deep. We represent and support Canadian and Indigenous artists and artisans from coast to coast to coast, including from numerous remote Inuit communities in the Canadian Arctic. Who Are We Looking For?
We are hiring enthusiastic and attentive part-time key holder sales associates for our retail stores. Are you passionate about all things Canada? Do you thrive in a professional retail environment? If so, joining the Made in Canada Gifts team may be the perfect fit for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to customers with enthusiasm, maturity, and strong product knowledge
- Conduct sales transactions using a computerized point-of-sale system
- Respond to customer communications by telephone and occasionally by email
- Ensure accuracy in all cash transactions, inventory counts, and store procedures
- Maintain and enhance in-store product merchandising
- Maintain appearance of store, including cleaning of display shelving and floors
- Removal of recycling and garbage from store
- Potentially assist with managing social media and / or other marketing activities
- Always work collaboratively as a team with other employees and store management
