Why work with us : The Family Centre (TFC) is recruiting a Cree ( nêhiyaw ) Knowledge Holder who is interested in sharing Ceremony and Indigenous knowledge and practice to support the children, youth, families and communities that we work with. We are focused on Trauma-Informed Care for both our communities and staff teams, and provide services based on research and evidence-based practices. What you will be doing : Providing training, teaching and experiential opportunities based in ceremony that support the transition from trauma-informed practice to ceremony-informed healing Sharing teachings that are specific to ceremony, turtle lodge teachings, circle process and relational accountability Offering ceremony on a regular basis to support service providers and the children, youth and families that they serve, such as teachings on smudge, hosting sweats, pipe ceremonies, ceremonial feasts, etc. Providing land-based teaching opportunities such as Tipi Teachings, medicine picking, and feast teachings to the children, youth and families that we serve Supporting the development of service provider capacity to ensure their ability to provide services in a culturally meaningful manner Providing continual coaching and guidance on protocol, how to approach Elders, and being a mentor or guide in ceremony What you bring to the role : Must be actively involved in, and committed to Indigenous ways of being, ceremony and practice Experience and knowledge from a Cree ( nêhiyaw ) perspective regarding Ceremonies and teachings Experience working in the community with service users and service providers Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours Experience working with Children and Family Services is an asset Experience working with people from diverse cultures Requires knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively support people impacted by trauma, through a trauma informed lens Background Check Process & Requirements : As part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks.
