The successful candidate will assist in the growth of the archaeology business in the Prairies North Region and will gain valuable and diverse work experience as part of our regional team. What you can expect to do here :
As a permit holding archaeologist, your responsibilities will include :
Conducting and leading archaeological field programs including survey, excavation and monitoringAnalyzing data and preparing technical reports for clients and regulatorsCompleting projects successfully, on time and on budget, while meeting regulatory requirementsLiaising with the Historic Resources Management Branch, clients, landowners, and Indigenous communitiesSupervising junior staff and Indigenous workers where appropriateDevelop and contribute to project proposals and budgets;Participating in WSP's Health & Safety programDemonstrating a "Safety First" focus and acting as a role model to other staffComplying with WSP's Fit for Duty policyWhat you'll bring to WSP :
Graduate degree in Archaeology or related degree with equivalent cultural resource management experienceAbility to hold an archaeological research permit in Alberta or obtain permit holding statusPhysically able and willing to perform fieldwork in a variety of remote and challenging conditions for variable durationsHighly organized and self-motivated with critical thinking and problem-solving skillsProven oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsAn ability to contribute to a positive teamwork environment as well as work independentlyValid driver's license (Class 5)Additional Skills that would be an asset :
Experience identifying, recording, and evaluating the full range of archaeological site types found in the Northern Plains and Boreal Forest culture regionsFamiliarity with standard archaeological data collection equipmentExperience with remote sensing / geophysical data collection equipmentFamiliarity with GIS applicationsExperience living, working, or recreating in remote and / or rural areasATV / UTV and First Aid CertificationOther standard safety certificationsWSP is one of the world's leading professional services firms.
