Job descriptionDegree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology; Minimum 7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; Proficiency in SolidWorks AutoCAD and project management tools; Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills; Ability to communicate effectively with customers engineers and production teams; Experience with machining (horizontal and vertical milling turning) welding fabrication jigs and fixturing; Knowledge of machining fits material properties and selection and heat treatment processes. Our client Waycon Manufacturing Ltd. based in Penticton BC is a leading industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer serving clients across North America. Known for delivering high-quality custom-built solutions they support a wide range of industries from a two-acre facility equipped with advanced in-house machinery state-of-the-art tooling and cutting-edge engineering technology. Their capabilities span concept design CNC machining fabrication welding painting assembly and testing.
They are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage projects from initial quotation through design and this role you will ensure projects meet customer requirements stay on schedule and maintain high-quality standards in a custom machining and fabrication environment. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented technically skilled engineer with strong project management abilities and hands-on experience in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage projects from RFQ through delivery ensuring scope schedule and technical requirements are met;
- Review RFQs and prepare accurate competitive quotations;
- Design and develop custom equipment components and systems based on customer specifications;
- Create 3D models in SolidWorks and produce accurate shop-ready manufacturing drawings;
- Coordinate with engineering production purchasing and quality teams to ensure smooth project execution;
- Support the shop floor during manufacturing to address technical questions and design refinements.
