Front End Developer (6 months contract)

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need someone passionate about owning the design, development and delivery of robust new front-end features and functionality for OLG Digital and our lottery businesses. This role requires strong experience in modern front-end development and application analysis, with a focus on building responsive, accessible user interfaces and integrating them with RESTful APIs and cloud services. You will collaborate with stakeholders across OLG to ensure that application and infrastructure solutions drive the desired business results.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Digital Solution Development, you will be empowered to:

  • Partner with product owners, lab teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements, assess feasibility, define technical solutions, and provide accurate effort and timeline estimates for digital initiatives.
  • Lead front-end solutioning sessions with third-party vendors to design and integrate complex capabilities into enterprise-scale web experiences built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.5+, Cloud Service), ensuring alignment on contracts, data flows, and integration patterns.
  • Design and build modern, accessible, and high-performing front-end applications and Single Page Applications (SPAs) using technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS/HTL, Node.js, Vue.js or React, ensuring an exceptional user experience across devices and browsers.
  • Develop and maintain complex integrations with vendor and internal services through APIM, REST, Sling, and other service-based architectures, enabling seamless connectivity across platforms and applications.
  • Own end-to-end technical implementation of complex features throughout the software development lifecycle, including proof of concepts, prototyping, code development, unit testing, QA support, deployment, and post-release optimization.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate developers, conduct thorough peer code reviews, uphold coding standards, and champion engineering excellence by contributing to reusable components, shared libraries, CI/CD automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing applications to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability, while providing advanced-level support for complex production issues when required.
  • Collaborate with technology partners, operations teams, and external vendors to identify risks, recommend solutions, document technical designs, and support successful transitions of new capabilities into ongoing operations.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on front-end development experience delivering enterprise-scale web applications, with a proven track record of leading complex feature development end-to-end.
  • Strong experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.5+ / AEM as a Cloud Service), including templates, components, dialogs, HTL, content structures, and multi-environment deployments.
  • Deep, production-level expertise in Vue.js (or React), Node.js, and Webpack, including build tooling, module bundling, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, Agile delivery practices, and release management.
  • Strong understanding of API integrations, web services, web performance optimization, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience with Adobe Campaign, A/B testing tools (e.g., Adobe Target) is considered an asset.

Relevant Skills:

  • Strategic understanding of how to troubleshoot issues and ability to think creatively to find solutions and push the envelope to find new use cases.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions with vendors and internal stakeholders and produce high-quality output under strict and accelerated timelines.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly in an established codebase and effectively work in a team setting with a diverse set of SMEs, junior developers, and stakeholders.

BENEFITS OF JOINING THE WINNING TEAM

  • Group Benefits Plan: Eligible employees and dependents have access to comprehensive, employer-paid group benefits coverage (permanent employees only).
  • Public Service Pension Plan: Participation in a highly desirable defined benefit pension plan.
  • Variable Pay Program: Participation in a performance-based incentive plan that recognizes organizational and individual achievements (permanent employees only).
