Job description1-3 years of accounting experience in construction related industry. Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills. Eager to learn, proactive, and able to handle repetitive tasks with accuracy. Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred. Efficient use of Microsoft Office suite is required. General knowledge of accounting software is required, and specific knowledge of construction-related software is a plus (e.g., Jonas, Sage, Procore). Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to assist with construction accounting transactions and other related financial tasks. The Junior Accountant will support the job costing process, maintain financial records, and collaborate with the team to ensure month-end reporting timeliness and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collect, code and record project-related invoices with detailed accuracy, and ensure invoices follow proper approval workflows and budgetary constraints.
- Compile, reconcile, and record credit card expense reports and transactions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly HST filings and other government remittances.
- Maintain up-to-date filings of invoices and other digital accounting records.
- Create and record intercompany invoices and monthly standard entries.
- Prepare and enter the required month end accruals and other journal entries for construction activity into Jonas.
- Take initiative in the use and implementation of technology to elevate departmental efficiency and improve existing procedures.
- Assist in the design and compilation of regular reporting packages for review and analysis by senior accounting staff.
- Assist in month end procedures, job costing analysis, job adjustments and various financial statements and reports.
- Assist in the setup of new construction projects and budgets in Jonas.
- Other Accounting related activities as required.
