JOB SYNOPSIS:
As a Snow School Professional, you are responsible for the enhancement of the quality of our guests’ skiing day. You are responsible for teaching skiing, snowboarding, and/or telemark skiing lessons in a professional, thorough manner while performing other duties to ensure our guests have a safe and enjoyable visit. Your personal interaction with our guests will foster a friendly relationship, which they will look forward to renewing each time they return to Whitewater.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructing lessons to the standards taught by the CSIA/CASI/CANSI and the Whitewater Snow School Director/Trainers
- Assisting with organization of group guests
- Become familiar with all Snow School programs, pricing and dates/times
- Promoting Snow School products and staff while around the resort
- Maintaining a professional image, as stated in the Whitewater employee handbook, while on duty
- Maintaining a positive attitude while teaching guests or interacting with other staff
- Ensure lessons are taught with safety as the main priority
- Completing all class cards and report cards when assigned
- When not teaching lessons, assisting with other departments, including but not limited to rental tech, OGS scanning/car parking, shoveling, special events help, guest services help
- Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development.
- Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by teaching, following and speaking to the alpine responsibility code with all students during lessons.
- Work to achieve department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assist in achieving organizational goals
- Embrace, promote and follow Whitewater’s mission statement and values
- Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices.
- Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
- CSIA or CASI level 1 certification as a minimum (or equivalent), with dues paid in full.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Experience in guest service-related positions preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to teach multiple disciplines is an asset.
- Ability to teach in different languages is an asset.
