Job description

We’re growing — and we’re excited to welcome someone new to our team.

Victim Services Bruce Grey is expanding and seeking a Full-time Continuing Program Manager , based in Owen Sound, Ontario , to help support our staff, volunteers, and community partners. If, as you read about this role, you feel drawn to the work, aligned with our values, and curious about how you might contribute, we would genuinely love to connect and explore this opportunity together.

Who We Are

Victim Services Bruce Grey (VSBG) supports individuals, families, and communities impacted by crime, tragedy, and sudden loss. We provide 24 / 7 crisis response and follow-up support across Bruce and Grey Counties, working in close partnership with police, emergency services, healthcare providers, and community agencies.

Our work is rooted in trauma-informed, client-centred, and team-based practice . We believe sustainable services are built when staff and volunteers feel supported, trusted, and connected to one another.

This role might be a good fit if…

  • You find meaning in supporting the people who support others , and you lead with care, steadiness, and respect
  • You enjoy being a thought partner and sounding board for staff and volunteers navigating complex, emotionally demanding work
  • You’re comfortable balancing day-to-day coordination with big-picture thinking
  • You bring a trauma-informed and equity-focused lens to leadership and decision-making
  • You value collaboration over hierarchy and believe systems exist to support people, not the other way around
  • You’re energized by building trusting relationships and walking alongside others through change

About the Role

The Program Manager is a people-centred leadership role focused on supporting those who support others .

Working closely with the Executive Director, this role helps ensure staff and volunteers have the guidance, systems, and care they need to do their work well — particularly in complex and high-impact situations. The Program Manager supports day-to-day operations, offers consultation and coaching, helps coordinate referrals, and strengthens the systems that allow the team to deliver consistent, compassionate service.

This role also participates in the on-call rotation , offering calm, steady support to responders outside regular hours.

How You Support the Team

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and case consultation to staff and volunteers
  • Offer debriefing and emotional support following difficult or high-impact calls
  • Be a steady point of contact for questions, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Support coordinated crisis response, follow-up, and outreach activities
  • Assist with triage and prioritization of referrals from police, EMS, hospitals, schools, and community partners
  • Support equitable case assignment and monitor follow-up timelines
  • Help strengthen internal systems, documentation practices, and technology use (VSIRD, UNITE, Microsoft 365)
  • Walk alongside staff and volunteers through complex or high-risk situations
  • Contribute to a workplace culture grounded in trust, learning, accountability, and care
  • You’ll know you’re successful in your first 6 months when…

  • You’ve built trusting, supportive relationships with staff, volunteers, and the Executive Director
  • Team members see you as a steady, approachable source of support
  • You have a clear understanding of VSBG’s service flow , referral pathways, and on-call processes
  • VSIRD and UNITE system use feels consistent, confident, and well supported
  • Complex situations are being navigated collaboratively , with staff feeling supported rather than alone
  • You’re noticing patterns and pressures that help strengthen systems and protect staff wellness
  • Community partners experience VSBG as responsive, collaborative, and easy to work with
  • You feel grounded, connected, and clear about how your leadership supports both people and service quality
  • How we support you in this role

  • A collaborative leadership relationship with the Executive Director grounded in trust and open communication
  • Time and space to learn the organization, systems, and people — you are not expected to have everything figured out on day one
  • Clear protocols and systems designed to support both service quality and staff wellness
  • A team culture that values consultation, reflection, and mutual support
  • Opportunities for professional development and learning
  • Respect for boundaries, sustainability, and the emotional realities of this work
  • A shared commitment to trauma-informed and equity-focused practice
  • What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Social Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in leadership or senior support roles within crisis response or human services
  • A strong grounding in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
  • Experience mentoring, supporting, and walking alongside staff and volunteers
  • Comfort working with databases and communication systems (experience with VSIRD and UNITE is an asset)
  • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence
  • A genuine commitment to equity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable vehicle; travel across Bruce and Grey Counties required
  • Flexibility to participate in evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation
  • Apply if this resonates

If this role speaks to you — if you’re drawn to supporting teams, strengthening systems, and walking alongside people through complex and meaningful work — we encourage you to apply.

Please submit a resume and cover letter by email to director@victim-services.com sharing what draws you to this role and how your experience aligns with VSBG’s values and approach to care.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Victim Services Bruce Grey is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process upon request.
