Job description

Working with A&W is more than just sharing a love of great burgers. By joining our team you'll be on the front lines, helping us change the fast food landscape. From eliminating plastic straws, to root beer made with all-natural flavors, to being the first national restaurant chain in Canada to offer the plant-based Beyond Meat Burger, we've never been the kind of company to sit back and wait for change to happen. For us, it's all about doing the right thing for our food, people, community, and environment. We can't wait to hear from you!

A&W is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, please inform us when you apply. Job applicants responding to this posting may be applying to an independently owned and operated A&W restaurant franchise, and all hiring decisions will be made by the franchisee.

Are you ready to join a team that's changing the fast food game one burger at a time?

At A&W, we're not just about serving great food – we're about making a positive impact on our community and environment. We're looking for a dedicated Cook who's ready to bring their A-game, serve up smiles, and help us lead the way in sustainable, quality fast food.

Apply for this role if you:

  • Appreciate exceptional customer service and know what it takes to deliver this to every guest on every visit.
  • Pride yourself on building relationships with guests and your team.
  • Embrace change and get excited to implement new innovations from A&W.
  • Are committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
  • Enjoy being part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Interested? We would love to hear from you!

In This Role You Will…

Food Preparation and Service:

  • Prepare menu items according to A&W recipes and standards.
  • Perform fryer and grill duties, ensuring food is cooked to perfection.
  • Assemble food items and prepare produce for toppings.

  • Ensure that we have enough prep for the day.

Kitchen Operations:

  • Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning requirements.
  • Follow all food safety standards, including proper food handling and storage practices.
  • Filter fryers and maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain fast service during busy periods.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized; restock supplies as needed.
  • Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate stock (first in, first out).
  • Receive stock and ensure proper storage.

Team Support:

  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily operational goals.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new team members.
  • Foster positive working relationships with managers and coworkers.
  • Work with a team of cooks to prep work for other shifts when needed.

Customer Service:

  • Occasionally assist in serving guests and respond to special guest requests in a friendly manner.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Have fun while making your guests' day!
