A well-established construction and heavy equipment operation in the Rockland, ON area is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its Heavy Duty Division. The position is a mix of shop-based and local field work. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Schedule & Work-Life Balance
Day Shift, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday). Very rare weekend work (~1%)
4446 hours per week
Overtime paid after 44 hours
Compensation & Benefits
$38.00 - $45.00/hour to start.
Full benefits package, including: health, dental, life insurance, EAP, PTO.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment - excavators, articulated dump trucks (2530 ton), dozers, loaders, backhoes, crushers, screeners, conveyors, rollers and compactors.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues
Follow all safety protocols and industry standards
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (construction, fleet, dealership, or industrial background preferred)
Heavy Equipment Mechanic license not required
Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel-powered equipment
Experience with Caterpillar and/or John Deere equipment is an asset
