Job description

A well-established construction and heavy equipment operation in the Rockland, ON area is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its Heavy Duty Division. The position is a mix of shop-based and local field work. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • Day Shift, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday). Very rare weekend work (~1%)
  • 4446 hours per week
  • Overtime paid after 44 hours

Compensation & Benefits

  • $38.00 - $45.00/hour to start.
  • Full benefits package, including: health, dental, life insurance, EAP, PTO.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment - excavators, articulated dump trucks (2530 ton), dozers, loaders, backhoes, crushers, screeners, conveyors, rollers and compactors.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Follow all safety protocols and industry standards

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (construction, fleet, dealership, or industrial background preferred)
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic license not required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel-powered equipment
  • Experience with Caterpillar and/or John Deere equipment is an asset
