The Role : As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of the laboratory by collecting, preparing, and processing biological specimens for testing. You will assist medical laboratory technologists in ensuring accurate diagnoses and treatment, while maintaining a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities :
Collect and label blood, tissue, and other biological samples from patients for laboratory testing.
Prepare samples for analysis and ensure proper handling and transportation to prevent contamination.
Conduct basic laboratory tests and record results under the supervision of medical laboratory technologists or pathologists.
Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and ensuring supplies are stocked and organized.
Accurately enter data into Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to ensure proper tracking and reporting of results.
Follow strict safety and quality control protocols to maintain the integrity of laboratory results and ensure patient safety.
Requirements :
Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or relevant certification.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare teams.
Proficient in the use of computers and laboratory information systems.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining accuracy.
