The purpose of the Business Analysis and Policy Development (BAPD) team in Currency is to think strategically about the future cash environment and its impact on Canadians. We learn from monitoring the currency industry and changes in other jurisdictions, anticipate and raise issues and policy implications from changing cash use. We influence outcomes to achieve the Bank’s currency mandate and policy objectives through research, analysis, foresight & collaboration and making appropriate recommendations.
What you will do
As an Analyst on our team, you will :
- Conduct research and analysis on currency-related industries and companies to enhance understanding of industry dynamics.
- Assess policy, legislative, and regulatory developments in cash systems across various jurisdictions to evaluate potential impacts on Canada and support informed recommendations.
- Use internal and external data sources to monitor and report on data trends, transforming insights into meaningful tables and visualizations while exploring innovative presentation methods.
- Support the development of reports, meeting minutes, presentations, and business cases to illustrate the benefits of new approaches and policies.
- Contribute to projects by providing analytical support and coordinating tasks using qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Prepare briefing notes, reports, and presentations to effectively communicate research findings, analyses, and recommendations.
What you need to succeed
We are seeking a collaborative and self-motivated team player with strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. You have excellent attention to detail and can communicate insights effectively through written documents, data visualization, infographics, and presentations. Proficient in qualitative analysis and data analysis tools such as Excel and visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau and Powerpoint or other presentation software, you can work with datasets to generate actionable insights.
You thrive in both independent and team environments, building strong relationships, sharing expertise, and providing constructive feedback. Passionate about public policy and the Bank of Canada's currency mandate, you approach evolving situations with creativity, using evidence-based research to define problems, synthesize results, and propose innovative solutions.

Your education and Experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, public policy, public administration, or a related field. Candidates should have 3-5 years of relevant experience in conducting research and analysis.
Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve second their language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.

Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues.
