Position Summary

The Guest Ambassador Team Lead is a member of the guest experience team, responsible for being the team lead on the floor on the day of an event to the Guest Ambassador team, delivering exceptional experience to everyone including guests, volunteers, and employees, through support and delivery of guest service programs across the organization.

The Guest Ambassador Team Lead positions available are year-round casual-part-time positions that will require the successful candidate to work flexible hours throughout the week. Scheduled hours may be 0 – 40 hours per week with no guarantee of hours based on the operational needs of the team.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for supporting the guest ambassadors to perform their duties to the best of their ability and monitor any situation that may require improvement or change of personnel and bring it to the attention of their manager.
  • Assign employees to their area of responsibility along with instructions of their duties.
  • Leading by example at all times while contributing to the overall goals and objectives of the organization and delivering on the expectations of our customers. • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in assisting their supervisor on various initiatives.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate creativity in finding solutions that put the needs of the guest first.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experience by proactively engaging with and assisting guests.
  • Provide guests with assistance in wayfinding around Stampede Park.
  • Answer questions and assist guests in finding the information they require.
  • Receive guest feedback, share information, resolve guest concerns.
  • Be knowledgeable about year-round events along with the Calgary Stampede programming and services.
  • Keeping service excellence top of mind in execution of event requirements.
  • Demonstrating emotional composure during fast paced and stressful situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to choose appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences including both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate a clear, concise, yet detailed idea, thought or concept.
  • Effectively deliver and receive constructive feedback in an effort to continuously improve.
  • Ability to work as a Guest Ambassador in various roles (Coat Check, Usher, Greeter, Ticket Scanner, etc.)
  • Ability to work various shifts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Previous team lead work or extracurricular OR volunteer experience involving teamwork is preferred

Previous Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years of leadership experience (managing a team, developing, coaching, training)
  • Previous experience as a team lead in the hospitality industry would be an asset.

Technical Knowledge

  • Intermediate computer skills are required.
