THE POSITION :

We are seeking a dedicated Training & Safety Specialist to oversee employee training programs and workplace health and safety initiatives in our manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for developing training programs, tracking training compliance through a structure matrix, and ensuring all team members receive the necessary training, certifications, and retraining as required. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping and maintaining an effective training framework along with ensuring compliance, and adherence to provincial and federal health and safety regulations.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT :

  • Training & Development :
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs for all team members.

  • Create structured training processes to define how the training matrix should function.
  • Build and maintain a training matrix to track team member training progress, retraining schedules, and certification renewals.
  • Develop and distribute training materials, manuals, and e-learning content.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of team member training records, revisions and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements for ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Conduct onboarding training for new hires and ongoing development programs for existing employees.
  • Regularly update the training matrix to reflect procedural, regulatory, and business needs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure team members meet training expectations and competency standards.
  • Work with leadership and HR to integrate compliance training and regulatory requirements into employee development initiatives.
  • Health & Safety Compliance :
  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.

  • Assist in investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Company workplace health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher courses, and job-specific safety training.
  • Ensure employees understand and adhere to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with management to address safety concerns.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance safety performance.
  • WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE :

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a training or health & safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop engaging training materials and deliver effective training sessions.
  • Experience in developing and using training matrix and maintain compliance records.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR an asset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
