Maintenance Manager - Brampton Region, ON

As the Maintenance Manager, you will be vital to the companys success by overseeing facilities maintenance, managing production floor equipment, and maintaining parts inventory. You will leverage your expertise in mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics, to lead your team in performing machine setups, preventative maintenance, and repairs for machinery in our clients food manufacturing plant. You will enjoy collaborating with other departments as the business continues to grow.

Hourly Wage : Salary or Hourly (optional), $50 / hr to $70 / hr - DOE (Permanent Full Time), Comprehensive medical and dental benefits package,3 weeks paid vacation, free parking and sick days.
Work Shift : Mon-Fri, 6 : 30am-4 : 30pm

D uties :
Oversee the planning, organization, and management of maintenance personnel and administrative procedures within the Maintenance Department.
Approve and verify team schedules, overtime, and vacation requests while communicating absences to Human Resources.
Review with QC product / part used in the plant meet Food Safety requirements.
Ensure staff are aware of food safety protocols and monitor them for compliance.
Set, train, and follow-up with staff on Health and Safety Standard.
Ensure staff are trained on food safety protocols and monitor compliance.
Develop and manage programs for the setup and dismantling of production equipment.
Implement and oversee a preventative maintenance and monitoring program.
Manage vendor relationships and contracts, supervise external contractors on-site, and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
Work with Human Resources to support hiring efforts and coordinate training for new maintenance staff.
Supervise and coach the maintenance team, including Electricians, Millwrights, and Maintenance Technicians. Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching, development, and recommendations for merit increases.
Collaborate with production services to minimize interruptions to production processes.
Plan and oversee all equipment repairs and installations.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
Red Seal certification as a Millwright or Electrician or equivalent.
7-10 years of supervisory or 3-5 years of managerial experience, preferably in the food processing industry.
Previous experience evaluating the maintenance teams performance, create strategic work plans, foster team development, and contribute to business growth initiatives.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance and monitoring programs.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Previous experience negotiating contracts and part prices.
Ability to be available during on-call hours.
Must have access to reliable transportation as no public transportation is available.
Background check may be included as part of the hiring process.
Working Conditions :
Plant environment wet, cold / hot, and busy / noisy.
Raw meat - chicken, pork, beef, no kill floor.
Pressure to meet deadlines when production is down.
