Job description. About the Position Independently conducts routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation. Specific Responsibilities Crucible management and set up / prepare samples for fusion; Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools; Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to; Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Familiarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finish methods; Strong analytical and mechanical skills; Organized and highly motivated individual; Detail-oriented individual; Ability to work independently or as part of a team; Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time-critical issues; Basic English communication skills Safety oriented. Required Qualifications Completion of High School Education required. Diploma or Degree in Science preferred. Laboratory experience in a production-oriented environment would be an asset. Physical Demands Able to lift up to 50lbs; Able to work within a hot and dusty environment; Must be willing to comply with the following H&S requirements : Be clean-shaven for Personal Protective Equipment (respirator); Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required; Shower before the end of each shift; Undergo a lead blood test required every six months; Able to stand for a full shift; Able to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities; Possess manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks; Please note that ALS operates 24 / 7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work, including weekends. Our benefits includes An estimated hourly pay of $23.45 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and / or training. Structured wage increases.
