Job descriptionGraduated from a Post-Secondary business and / or recognized accounting program Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) with demonstrated knowledge with Public Sector Accounting Standards 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance with at least 3 years of supervisory experience preferably within a large public sector organization Knowledge and experience in working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial systems and proficient in using MS Office 365 suite of programs Skilled at working with large sets of data using Excel and other reporting tools to perform data analysis Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate build effective teams and communicate effectively at all levels Experience in a school district or another unionized public sector environment would be an asset
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance the Manager of Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the Districts day-to-day Accounting operations and financial reporting. The Manager will also lead business planning activities including new initiatives or projects related to Financial Services as required.
Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and department activities including accounts payable accounts receivables treasury month end processes account reconciliations and analysis and various statutory reporting and filings
- Ensuring effective and efficient processes and procedures are implemented for providing proper internal controls in safeguarding the Districts assets
- Provide support to both District and School level staff in addressing accounting related matters and inquiries
- Coordinate and oversee internal audit engagements and prepare working papers and financial statements for the year end audit
- Prepare internal financial reports for management and external regulatory financial submissions for the Ministry of Education and Childcare
- Provide training assistance and technical support to users of both the Districts financial reporting systems as well as the school-based accounting systems.
- Responsible for managing coaching mentoring and developing team members
- Performs other related duties as requested

Compensation
Comprehensive total compensation package includes a base salary in the range of $102001 - $127501 depending on experience a generous benefits package and participation in a pension plan.
