Our Calgary client is currently seeking a Controller to join their small engineering firm. The position will report directly to the CFO and is a new role for the company, adding capacity to their small accounting team as the company looks to grow in the coming years. A successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our company while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Your success will be defined by your ability to :
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance department
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members, providing guidance and support to facilitate their own professional development.
- Review monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian ASPE
- Monthly bank reporting and margin reporting.
- Monthly financial reporting to the Management Team
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process
- Manage cash flow by monitoring collections and vendor payments to optimize liquidity.
- Monitor internal controls and development of new policies and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations (GST, Corporate Tax) and ASPE.
- Attend local networking events within the industry.
