Job description

Position : Director of Finance

Overview :

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance works together with the management team towards fostering business success for the organization . This position leads the finance team and sets guidance for cost reductions and efficiency improvements. The Director of Finance works closely with Operations to build a highly functioning organization with a positive working environment. The Director of Finance is a member of the CEO's leadership team, playing a key role in the development of business strategies, evaluating line of business performance, and reviewing initiatives for new markets and services.

Job Type- Full-time, Permanent

Work Location- In-Person, North York

Schedule - Monday to Friday

Salary- $100k+ / year

Responsibilities :

  • Mentored and developed finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Creates and manages the overall budget to include accurate and timely performance reviews of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Provides oversight of all cost centres and identifies discrepancies and inconsistencies in data
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile data conflicts, and decompose high-level information into useable management information
  • Maintains a system of controls to ensure that assets are used appropriately
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and capital structure to optimize financial performance
  • Ensures compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and lead audits
  • Prepare and present financial reports and other required financial documents
  • Perform business analysis and facilitate various stakeholder inquiries
  • Develop and manage dashboards that display key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 5 years of financial management with a proven track record in a leadership role; preferred experience in logistics, warehousing, distribution organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA designation preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and accounting practices in Ontario.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision maker, capable of assuming responsibility
  • Highly effective, efficient, and professional
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
