Job Summary :
UBC Department of Radiology and TRIUMF Life Sciences Division, in collaboration with BC Cancer
Research Centre, are seeking a talented post-doctoral fellow to join a dynamic team to
develop radiopharmaceuticals using emerging radioisotopes. TRIUMF is one of the leading forces in medical isotope production, a field that has seen fast development in recent years and the potential of significant growth in future. Owing to its unique infrastructure, expertise, and long-standing collaborations with local and international partners, we have unparalleled access to promising radionuclides and the ability to develop radiopharmaceuticals to preclinical and clinical use.
The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunities to learn and grow in the exciting field of targeted radionuclide therapy. In this project funded by the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF), we will be assessing Ac-225 for treating late-stage cancers. Targeted alpha-therapy with Ac-225 has shown remarkable results in treating patients that exhausted other options. We are developing a novel Ac-225 radiopharmaceutical that has shown promises to move to preclinical evaluations.
The postdoctoral fellow will drive the effort and study the toxicity and therapeutic effect of our novel radiopharmaceuticals.
Work Performed :
- Develop a novel Ac-225 based radiopharmaceutical : prepare preclinical study protocols, carry out the bio-distribution, toxicity and therapy monitoring studies.
- Represent the project at conference symposia as well as publish the study data in the peer-reviewed literature.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or equivalent field of research. Intimate knowledge and hands-on experience with cell culture, tumour inoculation and rodent care are required. Communication and coordination skills are strong assets.
