Environmental Manager - Responsable Environnement

Location - Brossard, Québec

Skyline Recruitment is seeking a qualified Manager on behalf of a top client located in Brossard, Quebec. The Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring all operational activities for the Quebec operations. This role encompasses overseeing performance across service offerings, including hazmat, environmental, and occupational health and safety projects, ensuring client satisfaction, and upholding corporate values. The Manager is a key member of the Regional / Senior Management team, reporting directly to the President & CEO. Responsibilities include training, scheduling, and supervising team members, while ensuring that operational objectives are met within established economic parameters and timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the President & CEO, the Manager (Quebec) will :

  • Assist in new business development initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities for service enhancements and maintaining the existing client base.
  • Review and issue project reports prepared by technologists for clients.
  • Conduct fieldwork as necessary, including sampling and testing related to the services provided.
  • Demonstrate technical competency with various types of testing equipment, including advanced technology.
  • Participate in strategic and business planning with the corporate management team.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise divisional sales budgets in conjunction with the corporate Controller to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Contribute to the formulation and administration of company policies and long-term goals.
  • Plan, develop, and implement operational management strategies to meet organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Monitor and report monthly updates on operational metrics to the President & CEO.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Quebec Administrative Coordinator to ensure accurate invoicing, manage billing issues, and assist with receivable collections.
  • Direct staffing, recruiting, and training efforts while utilizing effective performance management techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with human resource policies, environmental regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Manage operational capacity concerning space, equipment, and personnel.
  • Maintain essential equipment and ensure proper calibration in the absence of a technologist.
  • Achieve best-in-class safety performance in conjunction with the Senior Director of Corporate Services (Toronto).

  • Technical Understanding : Prepare specifications and reports, assist in evaluating practice offerings, and possess a comprehensive understanding of service offerings.
  • Minimum Requirements

  • Honours Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent, plus 5 to 10 years of field experience in Occupational Hygiene / EHS Management projects. A Graduate degree in occupational hygiene or a related field is a definite asset.
  • Certification as an Industrial Hygienist and / or Registered Occupational Hygienist, or Professional Engineer.
  • Active participation in the occupational hygiene or environmental geosciences community is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of operational management experience in comparable organizations.
  • Proven leadership, team-building, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislative requirements in Health and Safety for project management.
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.
  • Initiative to make recommendations and work independently.
  • Working Conditions

  • Standard business hours with potential evening or off-hours work as needed.

  • Faire preuve de compétence technique avec divers types d'équipements de test, y compris des technologies avancées.
  • Participer à la planification stratégique et commerciale avec l'équipe de gestion de l'entreprise.
  • Développer, surveiller et réviser le budget de vente divisionnaire en collaboration avec le contrôleur afin d'assurer l'alignement avec les objectifs organisationnels.
  • Contribuer à la formulation et à l'administration des politiques de l'entreprise et des objectifs à long terme.
  • Planifier, développer et mettre en œuvre des stratégies de gestion opérationnelle pour atteindre les plans de performance organisationnelle convenus dans les budgets et délais établis.
  • Surveiller et faire rapport des mises à jour mensuelles sur les indicateurs opérationnels au Président et Chef de la direction.
  • Collaborer avec le contrôleur et le coordonnateur administratif du Québec pour assurer une facturation précise, gérer les problèmes de facturation et aider à la collecte des créances.
  • Diriger les efforts de dotation, de recrutement et de formation tout en utilisant des techniques efficaces de gestion de la performance.
  • Assurer la conformité aux politiques de ressources humaines, aux réglementations environnementales et aux exigences légales.
  • Gérer la capacité opérationnelle concernant l'espace, l'équipement et le personnel.
  • Maintenir l'équipement essentiel et garantir une calibration adéquate en l'absence d'un technicien.
  • Atteindre une performance en matière de sécurité de classe mondiale en collaboration avec le Directeur Senior des Services Corporatifs (Toronto).

  • Diplôme d'études supérieures en sciences ou en ingénierie, ou équivalent, plus de 5 à 10 ans d'expérience sur le terrain dans des projets de gestion de l'hygiène au travail / EHS. Un diplôme de deuxième cycle en hygiène au travail ou dans un domaine connexe est un atout certain.
  • Certification en tant qu'Hygiéniste industriel et / ou Hygiéniste du travail enregistré, ou ingénieur professionnel.
  • Participation active à la communauté de l'hygiène du travail ou des géosciences environnementales est préférée.
  • Minimum de cinq (5) ans d'expérience en gestion opérationnelle dans des organisations comparables.
  • Compétences avérées en leadership, en développement d'équipe et en supervision.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication, en analyse et en organisation.
