Job Summary
Compass Group Canada is hiring an
Environmental Services Manager
to oversee housekeeping and laundry operations in our facilities. The role includes implementing training, conducting quality audits, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Compensation ranges from $48,700 to $63,000 annually, with final pay based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
Implement and conduct training sessions and coordinate an annual training calendar for housekeeping and laundry staff.
Complete a monthly summary of the Compass Quality Assurance Program and submit it to District Manager, Regional Director, Unit Manager, and client.
Conduct weekly quality assurance audits in housekeeping and laundry, following up with staff and involving managers as needed.
Review job routines, programs, and systems to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Ensure the Compass Health and Safety program is in place, including trained first aiders, an active OH&S committee, H&S training, and audits.
Actively participate in the facility’s Health and Safety Committee.
Attend client meetings related to housekeeping and laundry services.
Ensure all staff is trained in and follows infection control programs.
Interact with suppliers and vendors for housekeeping and laundry services.
Recruit, hire, manage performance, and discipline all housekeeping and laundry staff.
Participate in budgeting and ongoing financial management of the departments.
Ensure completion of Compass HR programs (CHAT, Be‑A‑Star, HERO, Weekly Safety Minders, etc.) for staff.
Complete accident investigation forms and recommend ERTW programs.
Recommend equipment and supplies needed for operations.
Conduct daily maintenance duties, including floor care and snow blowing during winter.
Serve as the liaison with the Environmental Public Health Officer and other regulatory bodies.
Complete the Balanced Scorecard for the unit.
Meet and check‑in with the client regularly and attend meetings as requested.
Lead and coordinate schedules for environmental special projects.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education (preferred).
Three years of management experience in healthcare, facilities, or environmental services.
Experience managing unionized teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills, specifically with Windows.
