WHO WE NEED We are seeking a Library Technician- Acquisitions and Circulation, to support the daily operations of the ROM Library & Archives.

Reporting to the Interim Manager, Library & Archives, this role is responsible for a range of public services, archival support, acquisitions, and collections maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external users to ensure library and archival materials are accessible, well-maintained, and managed according to professional standards.

This role requires strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Deliver front-line library services, including circulation, retrieval, shelving, and assisting users with the library catalogue, databases, and research inquiries Support archival operations by assisting with inventories, updating finding aids, rehousing materials, and facilitating access to archival collections Coordinate acquisitions processes, including ordering monographs, verifying duplication, processing invoices, and liaising with curators and suppliers Provide support for interlibrary loans and document delivery, including bibliographic verification, lending/borrowing, and tracking requests Manage library systems and records, including patron accounts, loan records, and research appointment scheduling Support safe handling and security of collections, including rare and archival materials Assist with supervising student placements and volunteers as required WHAT YOU BRING Completion of a Library Technician or Archival Technician diploma (2-year program), or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a library or archives environment Knowledge of Library of Congress Classification (LCC), MARC 21, and Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) Familiarity with archival principles and standards, including descriptive practices (e.g., RAD) Experience with automated library systems, circulation module, and interlibrary loan procedures Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and experience with library/archival databases Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to support a wide range of users Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment French language skills are an asset SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT START DATE: ASAP OPEN DATE: May 6, 2026 CLOSE DATE: Open until filled STATUS: Part-time contract EMPLOYEE GROUP: OPSEU Local 543 EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $31.40 - $35.90 SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours or six (6) months LOCATION (onsite): Toronto, ON WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS Initial conversation: A 30-minute virtual conversation** with a Recruiter to discuss your interest in the role and ROM and how you can make an impact.

First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team.

This in-depth interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.

Second interview: A 1-hour in-person meeting with the Hiring Manager and relevant team members.

You may be asked to present a pre-assigned case study and discuss scenarios relevant to your role.

Depending on the position, you might also be given a tour of ROM and receive a preview of your responsibilities and interactions.
