Job description3+ years of U.S. personal tax experience in a public accounting environment You have completed or are pursuing your Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) or U.S. Enrolled Agent (EA) designation Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. individual income tax Possess enthusiasm for the profession and ongoing learning Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Office Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication Customer service and / or client service experience is desirable Other language skills is an asset. Responsibilities
- Research various U.S. cross-boarder tax related issues and conclude on their potential implications
- Prepare US personal (80%+) and corporate tax returns (10-20%)
- Assist in research and preparation of U.S. tax-planning strategies for our clients and on the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns
- Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data
- Actively engage in tax compliance, planning and strategy development by analyzing client tax issues, relevant tax laws, provisions, and jurisprudence
- Coordinate with the IRS, CRA, and state authorities
- Collaborate with engagement teams to plan timelines, risk assessments, and other documents
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies
- Assist in preparation of election forms
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
