We are currently seeking a highly organized and efficient Senior Mechanical Engineer who will lead in the execution of mechanical project designs. As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you won’t just design—you will lead. You will serve as the technical anchor for our team, orchestrating the full lifecycle of mechanical projects from concept to construction. You will guide a talented design team, ensuring every project meets our rigorous standards for quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design all types of mechanical systems and equipment selection for use in various types of food or beverage plants including HVAC, underground plumbing, plumbing systems involving domestic hot / cold water, hydronic heating and cooling, high pressure wash system, water treatment systems (softening, reverse osmosis), natural gas facility distribution. Process hot water and steam boilers equipment selection, including steam / condensate piping design and component selection.
  • Conduct final inspection and recommend acceptance or rejection of completed designs.
  • Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes to provide seamless quality of engineering services.
  • Verify and validate engineering designs by testing protocols and analyzing statistical data.
  • Project manage from initial client start up meeting through to completion on assigned mechanical engineering projects.
  • Assist with the development of project plans, project costing, and coordinating the efforts of other engineers, technicians, designers, and drafters to support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Evaluate various mechanical products under consideration for purchase to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Determine budget requirements for mechanical systems and submit budgetary recommendations as well as monitor and be responsible for budgets throughout the project.
  • Work closely with architectural, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines to ensure building projects are completed to client’s satisfaction.
  • Coach junior engineers and work closely with project technologists to develop plans to client’s satisfaction.
  • Produce and conduct presentations.
  • Evaluate process equipment for use by client and make recommendations.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Ontario Building Code for Plumbing and HVAC, Ontario Fire Code, CFIA, ASHRAE STD as applied to HVAC and Refrigeration, NFPA, OSHA, TSSA, CSA Standard for fuel related appliances and equipment.
  • Expertise in ammonia and halocarbon refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines.
  • Proven track record in managing large project budgets.
  • Ability to identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship with project indicators.
  • Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships.
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
  • Strong communication skills with a strong ability to work with others and manage client relations and expectations.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and evaluate key financial performance indicators.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the food or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Consulting experience is considered an asset.

    Compensation Range

    $110,000 - $160,000 per year. Your compensation within this range will depend on your skills, experience, and qualifications. Along with base pay, our total rewards package includes comprehensive benefits and programs designed to support your well‑being and professional development. The salary range for this position is based on market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure fairness and consistency.
