Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience _

Nursing Degree :

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing

BCCNM Certification :

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BC College of Nurses and Midwives).

CPR Certification :

Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR Level C is required for all nursing positions.

Specialty Certification :

Specialty unit nurse positions also require area specific specialty certification for the unit.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Emergency Room, ICU and Critical Care Relief Pool also require Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Experience :

Critical care and specialty units (i.e. Emergency, ICU, O.R., P.A.R., Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Psychiatry) require two years' recent related experience.

Skills And Abilities

Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner to the care of assigned patients.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.

Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents and families.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
