The Opportunity:
Under the Director of Product Development, the Product Engineering team is responsible for the integrity (safety, functionality, and reliability) of new products during the design and technical development stages. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Product Designers, Project Managers and cross-functional partners in the production launch of products, ensuring the proper development of parts from initial design through to production.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Participate and evaluate the integrity of preliminary designs in collaboration with the design team;
- Work closely with designers to develop parts by defining the geometry, materials selection and tolerance to ensure compliance with internal and external standards;
- Revise and approve designs for submission for the tooling process;
- Approve the 2D and 3D production drawings under the guidance of the Engineering Manager;
- Define performance criteria for products with Designers;
- Follow up with external suppliers on mold manufacturing to ensure established deadlines are met, and communicate changes to Project Managers;
- Analyze parts produced from new molds and make recommendations to the tooling team meet performance criteria through final part approval;
- Provide technical support to the production group for the manufacturing of existing parts;
- Actively contribute to engineering initiatives aimed at improving development and production processes.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
- Minimum of one year of experience in an engineering role;
- Understanding of the design of plastic parts and injection moulds (asset);
- Mastery of the modelling software 3D SolidWorks or comparable CAD software;
- Excellent communication skills to ensure effective collaboration between the design and production groups;
- Ability to work under pressure to ensure that deadlines are met;
- Excellent ability to find practical technical solutions;
- Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Proficient with MS Office;
- Bilingual (French and English);
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
