Automotive Service Technician (NOC 72410)
Job duties :
- Receive and complete vehicle maintenance service assignments for all makes and models of cars and light trucks from Shop Manager.
- Complete oil change maintenance packages on vehicles, including visual safety checks and tire rotation.
- Identify and document vehicle maintenance needs resulting from safety inspections, which includes documenting both immediate and future repair requirements.
- Diagnose causes of any stated vehicle malfunction or driveability issues and complete authorized repairs and replacements.
- Use diagnostic equipment to isolate and identify stated or observed vehicle warning signs and / or driveability issues.
- Complete vehicle fluid changes, including transmission, power steering, brake, clutch, and differential fluids.
- Complete repairs and / or replacements on vehicle brake, engine, suspension and steering, drive train, exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic control systems as authorized and directed by Shop Manager.
- Complete vehicle tire repairs and / or replacements as required.
- Complete vehicle wheel alignments as required.
- Use hand or power tools and automotive diagnostic equipment and repair software to complete repairs and replacements that meet or exceed OEM specifications.
- Document and review proposed repair and / or replacement solutions with Shop Manager.
- Test drive vehicles, as required, in order to diagnose and confirm causes of vehicle malfunctions and to verify the success of repairs and / or replacements.
- Document the work that was completed on vehicles.
Terms of employment : Permanent and full-time.
The language of work : English.
Wage : $34.00 per hour.

Skills requirements :
o Completion of Secondary School.
o Completion of an automotive service technician apprenticeship program involving training courses at an accredited Automotive Training Institute is preferred.
o Red Seal Automotive Service Technician Certification is preferred.
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Automotive Repair Industry with a demonstrated progression of skills and duties involving vehicle scheduled maintenance, vehicle fluid changes, vehicle drivability and electronic diagnostics, and vehicle mechanical and safety inspections and repairs.
o Practical training work experience (6,000 hours) required to be eligible for Red Seal trade certification is preferred.
o Punctuality.
o Good written and oral communication skills.
o In-depth understanding of the mechanical and electronic operation of vehicles.
o Understanding of the various mechanical and electronic components of vehicles.
o A willingness to learn and progress in the field of automotive repair.
o Able to safely drive both automatic and manual cars and light trucks.
o Able to take a systematic approach to diagnosing stated vehicle drivability, operation, and malfunctions.
o Able to safely use various shop troubleshooting and repair equipment, including vehicle diagnostic scanners, battery testers and boosters, vehicle hoists, air conditioning recharge equipment, and alignment machine.
o Able to understand and use diagnostic software, including Mitchel on Demand and Identifix.
o Able to understand and use vehicle electrical wiring and component diagrams during troubleshooting.
o Mechanical aptitude when using vehicle power and hand tools.
o Able to implement creative solutions when presented with repair challenges while adhering to OEM specifications.
