Job descriptionLead the planning, implementation and improvement of automation and control systems for new capital projects and process improvements Troubleshoot, modify and optimise PLC and HMI programmes Develop and maintain programming, electrical and controls standards Design, verify and maintain electrical schematics Design, fabricate and install control panels Perform electrical wiring and automation‑related repairs as required Actively participate in equipment installation, commissioning and early production support Work closely with maintenance, production and suppliers to resolve equipment and controls issues Identify inefficiencies in existing equipment and independently propose and implement improvements Develop technical documentation and deliver training to operations and maintenance teams Ensure equipment is operated safely and correctly 7+ years of experience implementing, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation and control systems (or equivalent) Diploma (3‑year) in Electrical Engineering Technology or B.Tech / B.Eng in Electrical Engineering Electrical licence (309A or 442A) is a bonus Advanced PLC programming using Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix (Studio 5000 / RS Logix) Proficiency with AutoCAD electrical Strong knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet / IP, TCP / IP) Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code Strong attention to detail, communication and time‑management skills Ability to work independently but also collaborate and communicate exceptionally well in a team environment Ability to learn, troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes Broad electro‑mechanical knowledge which translates into being a creative problem solver who can recognize needs and pursue them with minimal direction Able to operate both in a hands‑on setting with maintenance tasks and related administrative functions Demonstrate our values of respect, collaboration, commitment Seniority level : Not Applicable Employment type : Full‑time Job function : Manufacturing Industries : Manufacturing

Overview
Norbec is seeking a hands‑on Automation Controls Technician to support the startup and expansion of our new 150,000‑ft² manufacturing facility in Strathroy, Ontario. This role will play a key part in capital projects, equipment installation and commissioning, production support, and continuous improvement as the facility expands. This is an in‑person role for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, taking ownership of projects from concept through startup, and working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, this Automation Controls Technician role is focused on continuous improvement, production support and new project startup.
