Job description

Total Group of Companies is seeking a Journeyman Sprinkler System Technician to join our team in the East Kootenay region of B.C. This role focuses on delivering sprinkler system projects for both external clients and internal operations. The successful candidate will apply advanced fire and life safety principles to the installation, inspection, maintenance, and modification of fire protection sprinkler systems within existing commercial facilities.

Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Fire Systems Specialist, daily task and activities include but are not limited to :

  • Inspection, service and troubleshooting of existing sprinkler systems
  • Inspection, service and troubleshooting of fire water pump systems
  • Inspection, service and troubleshooting of fire hydrants
  • Perform upgrades, repairs, additions and improvements to systems following inspection
  • Respond to service calls as required
  • Identify fire code compliance solutions
  • Prepare detailed inspection, verification and deficiency reports
  • Maintain company equipment, tools and vehicles
  • Perform scheduled inspections for safety compliance
  • Assist TFS supplemental divisions as required

The ideal candidate would possess the following traits :

  • To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria :

  • Authorized to work in Canada, and possess a valid SIN
  • Have a valid Drivers License with minimum of 3 years of driving experience, AND be able to produce a satisfactory drivers abstract
  • Experience pulling trailers
  • Willing to travel as required and work after hours / weekends as needed

  • Willing to work away from home base as needed
  • Willing to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Ability to possess standard oilfield and safety training tickets as they relate to your job
  • Willing to further education to meet industry needs
  • To be selected for this role, you MUST have the following certifications :

  • Inviting any 3rd and 4th year apprentices to apply within the East Kootenay Region
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards as they apply
  • Strong technical skills and strong knowledge of fire alarm systems design and construction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate with clients, authorities, and contractors
  • Strong technical skills and strong knowledge of Sprinkler systems design and construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate with clients, authorities, and contractors.
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
