Job description

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Distribution Director to lead the operations of a Distribution Center within the food industry. In this key role, you’ll ensure our products move safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of distribution centre operations, including health and safety, labour relations, inventory management, sanitation, and facility maintenance to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.
  • Manages the flow of goods to meet store expectations, ensuring inventory accuracy, minimizing damages and spoilage, and maintaining product rotation standards.
  • Drives operational performance by achieving key performance indicators (KPIs), controlling operating costs, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives, collaborating across departments to enhance processes, deliver year-over-year KPI improvements, and advance corporate responsibility efforts.
  • Fosters network collaboration, sharing and adopting best practices
  • Leads operations across multiple shifts, overseeing staffing, performance management, grievance resolution, and adherence to the union
  • Builds and develops high-performing teams by recruiting top talent, providing ongoing training, setting clear performance standards, and fostering professional growth.
  • Drives operational excellence through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or Industrial Engineering
  • 7+ years of management experience in a unionized distribution or logistics environment, with strong experience within a unionized environment
  • Proven experience with automated distribution centres and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives, preferably with Lean Six Sigma training.
  • Strong technical proficiency with MS Office & Distribution Management Systems
