Job descriptionLicensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in British Columbia (or eligibility to obtain licensure). Foundation students are welcome to apply. Minimum 1–2 years of experience preferred, but new graduates or foundation students are welcome to apply. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and a compassionate, client-centered approach. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently. Valid BC Driver’s License. Overview
McCall Gardens, a progressive and family-owned funeral home located in Victoria, BC, is seeking a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer or Foundation Student to join our dedicated and compassionate team.
With a tradition of care spanning over 100 years, McCall Gardens has built a reputation for innovative service, integrity, and excellence in funeral care. Our modern, purpose-built facility is designed to meet the evolving needs of the families we serve, blending tradition with contemporary approaches to end-of-life services.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with families to plan and coordinate personalized funeral, memorial, and celebration of life services.
- Carry out embalming and preparation of decedents to the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Ensure all documentation and legal requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with clergy, celebrants, cemeteries, and other service providers.
- Supervise or participate in services, visitations, and receptions as required.
- Maintain a strong focus on service excellence, professionalism, and sensitivity to client needs.
- Assist with on-call duties on a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends.
