Job description

Overview

The Client (BCRDS) team is seeking four (4) Application Designer / Developers (Level 2) to support the BC Registry and Online Services modernization project . These professionals will be part of an agile team working on the transition from legacy systems to modernized digital services.

Project Context

BCRDS manages the registration and incorporation of businesses, non-profits, cooperatives, and other entities in British Columbia, delivering services through online, phone, and in-person channels. The modernization initiative is focused on replacing mainframe systems, enhancing service functionality, and supporting provincial commitments.

The selected consultants will :

Work in agile teams using DevOps methodologies and modern technology stacks.
Support migration from legacy systems to cloud-based, containerized architectures.
Engage in design, coding, testing, and integration of applications .
Participate in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and demos.
Collaborate with other teams to ensure technical excellence and alignment.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

Candidates must have :

2+ years of experience as a full-stack developer using modern programming languages (e.g., JavaScript).

1+ year of experience working with Python and TypeScript .

Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with API gateways .

3+ years of experience in agile teams , including 1+ year using Scrum methodologies .

Experience migrating digital services from legacy environments (e.g., mainframes) to modern platforms using DevOps, Kubernetes, containers, and microservices .

Proficiency in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Preferred Skills

Candidates with the following experience will be preferred :

Knowledge of BC Registries and Online Services .

Experience with search technologies (e.g., SOLR, Elasticsearch, Google Cloud Search).

Experience with Flask, Vue.js, and Nuxt.js .

Familiarity with JSON Schema and OAS v3 API standards (Apigee).

Knowledge of PL / SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases .

Prior work in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) environment .

Experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions .

Proficiency in OpenShift platform .
