Job description

Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) invites applications for a Palliative Care Physician to provide clinical support (0.2 FTE) across South West Areas 1, 4, and 5.

The physician will support patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with life-limiting illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical palliative care services across care settings (hospital, continuing care, and home).
  • Participate in scheduled service coverage, including some weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Support patients and families through assessment, management, and ongoing care planning.
  • Provide guidance and medical direction to members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in home care rounds, case discussions, and family conferences as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols, policies, and care pathways.
  • Support education of healthcare providers, patients, and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement, program development, and team meetings.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and legible documentation.

Job Qualifications

  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Additional training or experience in palliative care is preferred.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in teaching; potential appointment with the University of Saskatchewan.
