The Role : As a Registered Nurse in the Maternity unit, you will provide compassionate, patient-centered care to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns, while also educating families on care practices and recovery.
Responsibilities :
Assess and monitor the health status of pregnant women, including vital signs, fetal heart rate, and contraction patterns.
Develop and implement individualized care plans for labor and delivery, collaborating with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
Advocate for patient rights and needs, addressing any concerns that may arise during the maternity care process.
Ensure patient safety by adhering to established policies, procedures, and best practices in maternal care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation of patient care and outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff education to enhance patient care in the maternity unit.
Requirements :
Current, unrestricted RN license in your province.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a maternity or labor and delivery setting.
BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP certification preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
