The Toronto District School Board adheres to equitable hiring, employment and promotion practices.
Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Library and Digital Projects, the Curriculum Resource Materials Specialist will assist in the development of new TDSB curriculum resource materials, especially in the editorial process of proofing manuscripts, revising manuscripts, preparing manuscripts for printing, arranging equity and content reviews, and in monitoring budgets of curriculum development teams and Market TDSB produced curriculum materials to external clients in order to increase TDSB revenue.
Summary of Duties :
Ø Revise and maintain TDSB Style Guide for producing TDSB curriculum materials (procedures manual);
Ø Assist Program Coordinators in overseeing editorial process;
Ø Liaise with external editors, consultants;
Ø Liaise with internal TDSB printing department and external printers regarding layout and printing of materials;
Ø Market TDSB produced curriculum materials to external clients;
Ø Produce promotional flyers and letters;
Ø Produce and maintain an accurate catalogue of TDSB produced curriculum materials in both print and web versions;
Ø Write descriptions of materials for catalogue and for ACCESS database of available materials;
Ø Distribute promotional materials in mailings to external clients (school boards and individuals);
Ø Prepare, review and respond to regular mail, e-mail, and phone correspondence with external clients;
Ø Answer telephone, e-mail and mail queries from external clients;
Ø Provide information about duplicating and reprint rights and duplicating prices to external clients;
Ø Proofread manuscripts;
Ø Revise manuscripts;
Ø Prepare documents for printing;
Ø Process invoices and payments for project development teams producing curriculum materials (including external consultants and editors);
Ø Liaise with Accounting and Payroll departments to expedite payments;
Ø Monitor and update project budgets;
Ø Produce reports for Program Coordinators and Superintendent on costs of individual projects;
Ø Process payments for materials made by external customers;
Ø Receive payments, record payments in ACCESS database, forward cheques to TDSB Accounting department along with proper documentation to credit correct Internal Order #s and GL Accounts;
Ø Assist Program Coordinator;
Ø Using the ACCESS database of curriculum materials, produce monthly, quarterly, and yearly revenue reports;
Ø Using the ACCESS database of curriculum materials, generate reports of sales, distributions, and inventory;
Ø Take orders placed by TDSB schools and external customers that are placed by telephone, email and fax;
Ø Respond to phone, e-mail and fax queries about types of documents distributed and sold; copyright and reprint queries, current inventory, and problems with deliveries;
Ø Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Ø Three-year community college diploma in related field including computer courses with two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Ø Ability to communicate effectively to staff with customer service focus;
Ø Proficient keyboarding and computer skills which include use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets and database management applications;
Ø Strong proofreading and editing skills;
Ø Experience marketing to outside clients;
Ø Knowledge of accounting / bookkeeping procedures.
Special Requirements :
Ø Bilingual in French and English in order to proofread and edit English and French manuscripts.
Locations : 3 Tippett Road (Hybrid Work Eligible)
Hours : 35 Hours per week
Work Year : 12 Months
